What “Earned It” Actually Means

We use the phrase “earned it” a lot.

It’s intentional.

Because nothing about trade certifications is handed out.

Students in Virginia’s CTE programs:

  • complete multi-year coursework

  • log hands-on training hours

  • pass industry-recognized exams

They show up.
They put in the time.
They prove they can do the work.

That matters.

VBCTF doesn’t give tools to people who might pursue the trades someday.

We support graduates who already did the work.

Who already chose the path.

Who already earned the credential.

That’s an important distinction.

This isn’t about convincing someone to enter the trades.

It’s about making sure someone who already did can actually start.
